Have you experienced complete devastation in the past?
Severe loss…betrayal…debilitating pain…(to name just a few).
Did God bring you through it? After such a heavy blow (so much pain!), when and how do you let your heart feel again?
When I heard this song for the first time last week, it struck a nerve that brought back old feelings. I played it over and over again. I imagine it might impact you similarly if you’ve experienced deep pain. (Haven’t most of us?)
It’s so encouraging! With God’s healing hand, we truly can trust Him.
Let go of the fear…and allow your heart to feel again…to beat again.
It’s understandable why we would keep our guard up. No one wants to go down a hard road again! We guard ourselves from feeling too deeply…so we won’t hurt that painfully again.
But, after the healing hand of God, you can trust Him with your heart again. He will take care of you.
As the song says, we don’t belong in the past anymore. Close the door to yesterday’s pain, and let your heart beat again. It’s OK to cry through it. I did, too.
Memories of deep pain can take your feelings right back to that spot, but God’s love mixed with that old familiar pain and hurt, there is balm. He is Lord, and He loves you. His love sooths your pain and suffering. (Jesus knows a thing or two about suffering. Remember what we celebrated last Sunday – His resurrection after dying a painful death on the cross?) He understands like no other!
Trust in the Lord…with all your heart. He will sooth your fearful heart. He brings healing, and then He restores…so we can live life again. Your beating heart can experience the full feelings of life and live – really live. Our God is faithful!
Let us rejoice as we meet our Lord in worship today!
