Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you. (Psalm 37:5)
How can God be trusted, when often we think He’s not listening?
When you pray for something to turn out a certain way, what happens when God doesn’t answer your prayer in the way you’d wished (and prayed)?
You prayed for healing but the report says returned cancer…
You prayed for a job but receive another rejection letter in the mail…
You prayed for your prodigal to return, and they continue along the path away from you…
You prayed for your spouse to reconcile when divorce papers arrive…
You prayed for protection in the storm, then a tornado (or hurricane) demolishes your house…
Are you mad at God for that? Are you suddenly filled with distrust?
We are limited in our understanding of things. You may not like to hear this, but we need to trust the Lord and seek Him in all situations and circumstances. He knows best. (I don’t say this lightly. I KNOW how hard that can be.)
He is working when we can’t see it. On the behalf of the faithful who love Him, God is behind the scenes, working things out for our good.
Remember back to other times in your life that God’s way was better. At the end of a trial, you looked back and saw that God worked things out perfectly. Plus, He gave you even more than what you’d asked. Sometimes we ask for very little of what the entire picture turns out to be when God is finished with His work. It’s beautiful!
Now all glory to God who is able,
through his mighty power at work within us,
to accomplish infinitely more than
we might ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20)
During times of silence from God, we must trust Him and His provisions. We wait for God’s answers, which is sometimes very hard to do! Our Father gives us strength to endure it.
If only we will turn our focus from our problem onto Him and His Glory, we will feel Him strengthening us.
When we focus on the Lord and all His blessings, He carries our burdens for us. Through faith in Jesus, we have that promise. Praise Him!
This song to Cry Glory by Charles Billingsly gets my heart soaring – every time! No matter what I’m dealing with, I can turn to the Lord and cry “Glory”! (I was reminded of this song as I listened to his music while writing last week’s post about what happened on my 911 flight.)
Sing along with Him as you lift your cares and prayers to the Lord. Whatever you’re dealing with, God’s got this! Trust Him.
