It’s been about six weeks since my last WBW post. Since this is a sacrifice year when I
cut whacked(!) the bushes out front, I’ve backed off on all my planting activity while the bushes leaf out again.
I’m not bothering the weeds too aggressively, either.
I have a few things blooming to share with you today. The Rose of Sharon has begun its budding and blooming.
At its base, the second Baptisia plant is blooming. Sadly, not many bloom stems are growing this year.
The red honeysuckle continues to be healthy and produce those colorful blooms.
The trellis at the other end of the porch has a clematis that’s growing wildly. It grew heavily to one side of the trellis this year. It’s too late to do much about it. Why mess with it, right?
I say it every year, so you’ve heard this before. I really, really heart this Tinkerbell-looking Clematis flower!
I tend to find anything purple irresistible. The hydrangeas started out as pink. In years past, I added sulfur to the soil so they would be a pretty blue. I need to do it again, but I sort of like all these different tones.
There’s sometimes a hint of purple on some of the blooms. I love the purple and lime green of this young bloom. Am I the only one?
I’m torn, though, because the pink is pretty, too.
There are new flowers on the porch – on a new pillow.
I won it in a giveaway at The Painted Apron. Jenna has a real talent for painting, and now she puts her designs on items at Society6. Isn’t it adorable? It’s so fun and fresh for summer. (Thank you, Jenna! I love my new pillow cover!)
Because I can’t trust a dog not to drag it out into the yard, I needed to protect it. I snipped off about a yard of ribbon, folded the ribbon in half, and pinned it at the fold near at a seam.
It needed to clear the zipper along the bottom edge. Then you just open the pillow cover and stitch.
And, voila! No more porch pillow doggie destruction!
All my porch pillows get ties or ribbons sewn on these days. Because I can Be A Porch Pillow Boss! 😉
I hope you have lots of blooms to enjoy. Do you have blooms on your porch(es), too?
P.S. Remember to visit Friday for that pork chop recipe I promised yesterday. Also, I’m excited to tell you that I have a recent transformation to share with you on Tuesday. (Hint: I’ve been painting again!)
