Welcome to spring!
The porch is starting the season with a whole new look – the look of sunflower.
With fifteen cushions to re-cover, it was a project for the days when HH was out of town part of last week.
It was Spring Break week here, so we had a break from some regular responsibilities. That helped!
When you cut away old covers and pile them on the floor, it’s surprising how much you realize they needed to go!
This is how to give your porch a much more cohesive look – with solid color cushions.
When I ordered the Sunbrella fabric with extra sun protection in January, I wasn’t trying to match the porch ladder, but it’s perfect. Here’s a link to the Sunbrella Sunflower fabric at Amazon*.
Yellow seemed like a good neutral for adding pillows to give different decorative looks.
Ha! As I made the spring wreath arrangement, I thought of the cushion fabric as I placed the one little yellow flower.
The Numbered DIY Planters are stacked on the spool table while they await planting with spring flowers.
And for the farmhouse bling? A shiny milk can, of course!
I took the old milk can for sand-blasting last week. Remember what it looked like before? How I wanted to keep the green and gold!
But, the rust had to go. After the sand-blasting, I spray-painted it with gray metal primer and then metallic silver.
I was thrilled to find this before-hidden lettering!
Our neighbors ran a dairy until not too long ago – before we moved here. Sure wish I had one of their old milk cans. They didn’t keep any, though. Can you imagine?
So much a part of daily life that it wasn’t seen as special…worth keeping.
The Drop-Leaf Table in Mint Condition has a new spot at the end of the porch. That chair begs for a cushion now, too.
You can’t tell in these pictures, but the pillows need replacing. (Thanks to Renovation Winston who chewed every pillow corner while he was an outside dog!) No stress, though. We have an entire spring and summer to work on new pillows.
Oh, I almost forgot to give you an update. If you missed my Periscope on Friday afternoon, Mom 2, Spunky Daughter, and I drove to Jackson to surprise PAM (Painter Artist Mom) on her birthday. HBD (Handy Builder Dad) got her there almost against her will in bad weather.
We had a nice lunch (a fun cousin and her husband met us there, too), followed by a visit to the Garden Extravaganza (indoors) happening over the weekend. PAM found a pair of metal plant stands she needed for their front porch. You’ll see them in the next few weeks, I’m sure, since I’m responsible for finding the perfect fake ferns to fill them. Ha!
Is it the year for new cushions for your porch furniture? How about a tutorial for re-covering your old ones?

I apologize for no Spectacular Sunday post yesterday, but I had blog tech-y issues over the weekend. God parted the sea and worked a miracle last night as He suddenly repaired everything. (Hear the angels singing?)
