Flowers are for Love Birds (and Valentines) – A Tablescape

No, it’s not spring yet, but we have blue birds nesting in lots of places.  I love their color, don’t you?

Bluebirds Under Cloche

I’ve separated these DIY blue birds under cabinet knob cloche domes to keep them from mating.  😉

Love is in the air…

Bluebirds and Floral Print

This flowery tablecloth is a big push hint for some flower delivery to occur at your house for Valentine’s Day.

Matching Plate Shelf Dishes

PERFECT by Patricia Neely Dorsey

If there has ever been a more perfect day,

I can’t remember it;

And if I have ever loved you more,

I certainly cannot recall;

Everything is right with the world

(Or at least in my world)

And I want it,

To last

Thank you, Patricia!  What is Valentine’s without poetry, flowers, and love birds?  And chocolate!

No chocolate is on my table, but that is easily remedied with a little stir in the kitchen.

A stir in the kitchen can cause a stir in his heart.

Oh, and hearts!  We must have hearts at Valentine’s.

Do you have a bazillion of the tiny-sized doilies left over from the sets you buy?  I do, too!

Place Setting

In an effort to use a small percentage of those bazillion, I made these doily hearts for under the clear plates in today’s setting.

Folded Doily

After folding this first one, flip it over and add two unfolded doilies at the top.  (Here’s where you have to get Big Bird out of your mind in order to see the heart. 😉 )

Doily Heart

The “gold” charger you see below is actually silver, like the others, but the light angle changed it to gold.  My camera skills need more work!

Love Bird and Flower Table

Lacy hearts call for frilly accents, so I off-set a DIY lace-trimmed napkin over each red place mat.  That softened and frilled things up a bit.

Glittery silver napkin rings add a little more bling to the tablescape.

Bling and Lace

Yep.  Even casual Valentine’s settings can handle extra bling.

Have you set a Valentine Table for your family to enjoy?  Kitchen settings are so versatile.  This casual tablescape with dressy touches here and there makes kitchen life a little more special than the norm.

Keep love in the air this month…but keep those love birds separated (wink)!

What a fun post! I loved the idea of keeping those birds separated – I laughed out loud at that comment!! Your Valentine’s table is so creative with the doily additions. The vintage linens are so pretty – love those flowers. I do hope they are a good omen! Happy Valentine’s Day!

Love, love, love the pops of red on your shelf redux…..thanks for sharing. RED, is there any other color that makes one smile so much when seeing it? Have a blessed day and keep on inspsiring us. From Texas with love.

Sadly, there will be no Valentine’s Day tablescape here this year. I’ve still got Christmas decor up all over the house!!! I’m hoping I will be well enough to get Christmas stuff put away by St. Patrick’s Day. There’s no way I’m letting my husband store stuff!!! He’s so task oriented…no concern for how neatly it’s packed or if it’s packed in order. He just wants it DONE!!!!!!!!

Your tablescape is so pretty and really does give a nice nudge and a shout out to Spring. It can’t come soon enough as far as I’m concerned!!! I haven’t had to get out in the cold winter weather much this time around, but I’ve heard my share of complaints about it! I could FEEL the cold this morning in the house as it dipped down below the freezing mark. Brrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

I really like your arrangement on the wood shelf. It has a Valentine vibe as well as an upscale kind of farm vibe to it. Love it!

I’m sorry, Alycia. I wish I could come over and set your table, pack up your Christmas decor (in an organized fashion), and help you with anything you need done. Is the pain at least a little better yet? Staying inside and warm sounds like the perfect way to recuperate. I’m wishing for a current update on your progress!

You don’t need to tell me about separating those little birdies…. I told you that I have three new grand fur babies as of very early Christmas Morning?

I was kind of sagging/drooping today….. because of Valentines….. but seeing your beauriful table setting cheered me right up.

Thank you! I’m sorry you were droopy, but so happy I could cheer you up! No, Valentine’s isn’t happy for everyone. Maybe find something fun to take your mind off of things. 🙂
