Two Snacks to Enjoy

Happy Halloween!  Do you have special Halloween plans, other than trick-or-treat?

We’re expecting rain and storms today during prime trick-or-treat time.  If you’re like us and will be hanging around this evening, storm-bound, maybe you want to make a couple of goodies to enjoy with your family.

The Painted Apron Snacks

Many of you know we now have a puppy, Izzy.  My process during puppy training is to confine Izzy to the kitchen, where we have concrete floors for easy clean-up.

Do you know what that means?

I’ve been living in the kitchen.  How many weeks will it take?  With few opportunities to break away, my sewing projects are piling up.

Making “lemon-aide out of lemons”, I’ve had plenty of time to do more cooking than usual.  A couple of weeks ago, I tried two recipes from a fellow blogger, Jenna, at The Painted Apron.

This Apple Pear and Walnut Gorgonzola Galette…

and these Rolo Cake Mix Cookies…

are delicious!

After my Green Apple Tablescape for Fall, I had plenty of apples for baking.  I’d also wandered out to my pear tree one day and found pears ready for picking.

Fresh-picked Pears

With these two fresh fruits on hand, I kept my eyes open for some recipes.

When I found Jenna’s recipe using both apples and pears, I knew the galette would be perfect to try.  It did not disappoint.

The galette is nutty and cheesy with the fruit flavors coming through, all wrapped in a crispy pastry crust.  Oh, and I almost forgot the caramelized onions. Yum, y’all!

I discovered Jenna’s Rolo cake mix cookie recipe and had to try them.  I love Rolos.  Don’t you?  The cookies didn’t disappoint, either.

If you’re looking for some delicious snacks for tail-gating, future Super-bowl parties, or parties in general, hop on over to The Painted Apron to grab Jenna’s recipes.  Go HERE for her Apple Pear and Walnut Gorgonzola Galette and HERE for her Rolo Cake Mix Cookies.

I think you’ll really enjoy them.

Thank you, Jenna!

Thank you for visiting! ~ I’d like to invite you to follow me through RSS feed, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Google+, Instagram,  or Hometalk.  Also, I’d love it if you shared Curtain Queen Creates  with all your sweet friends.

Thanks, y’all.

I am so loving your little Izzy…. she reminds me of my darling Rufus The Pekingese… and then I had Galahad for a brief few years.. he was a Tzu. I miss them both so desperately. Now I have a tiny white, little miss that is the boss of this house….. she is Sunshine The Maltese. Then there is her husband, Shadow The Poodle and little stray guy, thinking he is a blend of Jack Russell, Rat & Chihuahua…… really don’t have a clue, but he is a darling little boy I have named Speedy……. he gets out the door and he is GONE……. I have chased them all down more times than I prefer to remember.

I miss my scraggy Pear Trees that had the most wonderful fruit…. my mom used to like to eat them while still hard and yes me too. NO apples here in Florida…… not sure why they do not do here? I miss my three prolific grape vines and so much more…….. had to sell and all that I could not grab, was just bull dozed over….. broke my heart….. (zoned for business now).
