This table was part of a huge haul I made from a yard sale. After cleaning it, this is what it looked like.
Since I was using the Valspar Super Flat Primer and Paint, I sanded it slightly before painting. Lowe’s copied the Annie Sloan color I used on the Medicine Cabinet Transformed, which is French Linen. This is my favorite Annie Sloan color, as far as versatility goes.
Two coats of paint are needed when using the Valspar’s Super Flat.
Usually one coat is sufficient with Annie Sloan.
I roughed it up with sand paper, clear waxed it, and then dark waxed it.
I felt it still needed a little something. It was a little too plain.
I saw a picture of a table that had been studded with nail heads around the tabletop rim, and it was beautiful.
I’m sure I have the real nail heads somewhere, but I couldn’t find them. That’s what I get for cleaning out the craft cave. Does that happen to you? Can you find anything after you straighten up?
It must be a memory issue (rather, lack of memory). It’s all organized, but which location did I organize it into? Perhaps I need to make a master list. Ugh…too much detail energy needed for that!
I used the needle nose pliers to hold the tacks steady as I hammered with HH’s rubber hammer. It saved my fingers!
Using the rubber hammer kept the tacks from getting scratched and dented. The tacks add a little bling, but nothing too flashy.
When I placed the coffee table in our family room, I loved how the French Linen color took on a greenish cast. You can see I have accents of green in there. It’s amazing how colors change from room to room.
I almost named this post “The Tacky Coffee Table”, but I don’t think it looks that tacky, y’all. Do you think it looks tacky?
To me, it’s retro………..with a tish of bling!
