Something struck me one morning this week. I’d never considered this before, but after reading this verse, it certainly gives us something to ponder.
The prophets of old lived a different sort of life. They were scoffed at, mistreated, and lived as foreigners among their own people. The Old Testament is full of scripture by prophets pointing the way toward Jesus. Yet they never knew Him – until death.
At times, we feel we have it so bad. Our country is a mess. But…
We have it so good! We don’t have to wait until death.
Jesus is with us now in this life for those who choose Him. He is with us.
Jesus was born, lived a sinless life, hung on a cross for our sins, died a sinners death, and was raised to life on the third day. He did all of that for us!
The Lord helps us through everything…every single hard thing! What more do we need?
Before Jesus, God’s people lived without hope – just like everyone else. They had no assurance that they’d been good enough, sacrificed at the temple often enough, lived a Godly life well enough. Would they spend eternity in heaven? Could they be sure?
Certainly not like today. Through faith in Jesus, we can be sure. We have better than hope. We have His assurance.
I hope this encourages you today as much as it does me. Have a happy and blessed Lord’s day. He’s truly spectacular!
