Yes, you heard me right. It’s called a Dessert Bullet.
I visited Painter Artist Mom (PAM) and Handy Builder Dad (HBD) for a couple of days last week – a little pre-Mother’s Day visit. PAM has added a Dessert Bullet to her arsenal of kitchen gadgets.
I thought I should share the 411 with you in case you’ve never seen one. It is all new to me! (I will in no way be compensated by the manufacturers of the Dessert Bullet. This is simply my opinion – and PAM’s.)
There are many recipes in the booklet that came with the machine.
But the true beauty of it is that you can simply load frozen fruit chunks into the shoot.
Some of the recipes say to add other ingredients, like yogurt, vanilla, etc.
As our trial run, PAM and I went with only fruit – frozen fruit cut into pieces. PAM removed some strawberries and bananas from her freezer and let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes.
She chopped them into about 1″ to 1-1/2″ pieces and loaded the fruit into the shoot. She turned the machine on and mashed the fruit further into the shoot using the stopper.
While the frozen treat came out looking a little strange, we knew the true test would be in the tasting.
We mushed it around so it would look more like ice cream…and took a bite of the processed fruit. Yum…surprisingly similar (to me, at least) to the Berry Lime Sorbet that PAM and I like so much.
I liked the sampling of fruit only. PAM thought we should taste it with maple syrup drizzled on top. Then, we tried other sweeteners: Stevia, sugar, etc. Nothing improved the “fruit only” tasting, in our opinion.
No added sugar…no added fat…only frozen fruit. Simple…sweet…cool and refreshing – perfect for hot days of summer ahead.
What do you think? Does this sound good to you? If you have a Dessert Bullet, what’s your favorite concoction?
