If you enjoy pumpkin spiced coffees and teas during fall, you’ll like this easy and sugar-free, low-fat version.
I mentioned recently that I’ve stopped drinking coffee. Well, I haven’t stopped completely! I still drink coffee occasionally. I try to never have it three days in a row to avoid addiction.
In early January, while I was dragging around the lovely boot, I caught a stomach bug. Yep, 2017 wasn’t looking too sharp. The headache from lack of coffee while I was sick was far worse than the sickness itself. I was DONE with coffee! It was ice-cold water for me all these months. Until…
Fall arrived, and with it came the longing for pumpkin spiced hot drinks, like – you guessed it – coffee.
When I wake up wanting coffee, I sometimes replace it with oolong tea.
Oolong tea boosts your metabolism to one and a half times the normal fat burn rate.
I’ve discovered something. Tea and cream together are actually pleasant – especially when you add pumpkin spice to your cream (or half-n-half).
One of my girls trip friends from high-school brought her frothing gizmo to show us and to use on our last trip. I decided, with fall being here and my love for pumpkin spice and everything nice, it was time to purchase an Aeralotte milk frother of my own.
A frother isn’t required, of course, but I do love that little layer of spiced foam sitting on top of my hot drink. Am I spoiled, or what? 🙂
Here’s the“skinny” on the skinny coffee (or tea)!!
Place a tiny dob of Stevia in your mug or teacup. I’m saying the good, pure Stevia – no substitutes with unhealthy fillers. You can see my quarter teaspoon barely has Stevia powder in it. You probably don’t have a measuring spoon small enough, so do the best you can. Cover the spoon about the size of your pinkie fingernail – that broken-off one, not the long one. Ha!
People don’t like Stevia because they get too much of it. Too much does taste bad. But “just right” tastes just right. Start with a small amount that you can’t imagine would be enough. Build from there if you need to. You can always add more, but you can’t take away.
Next, add half of the quarter teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice (i.e., 1/8 teaspoon). You can add more later if you like more spice. I sprinkle more on top. (Remember. All that sinks to the bottom of your cup is wasted.)
Add two tablespoons of half-n-half, heat 15-20 seconds on high in the microwave, and blend away with your handy battery-powered frother! (Froth cream for about 30 seconds.)
Add your hot coffee or tea, and it’s as simple as that! Sprinkle a little more spice on top for added flavor.
Perfectly sweet creamy goodness…aaahhh! 🙂
If you’d like a frother, this Amazon* link will get you there. (I will receive a small commission if you use this link. I only recommend products I personally like.)
This frother made the Top 5 Best Frothers list at Best Reviews website. Even chefs use this one. Pretty good!
So, which would be your choice – coffee or tea?
