Side Table B and A

Do you get excited about projects and then continue adding several similar projects to your to-do list?  Do you get so thoroughly involved in those projects that you can do little else until you get it out of your system?  You could safely say my tendency is to “hyper-focus”.

Table Before Painting

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint started my whole hyper-focus on paint.  I bought a quart of Pure White, and the can is still half full after several projects.  SD (Spunky Daughter) painted this piece.  She did a nice job for a teenager hyper-focusing on getting a tan. 😉

Table Painted with ASCP

The table wasn’t in terrible shape when we found it at a yard sale.  It looks to be fairly new – few if any scratches.

SD and I worked side by side, painting several pieces spread out in our kitchen.  Yes, we dripped on the floor, even with newspapers spread beneath the furniture.  That’s the beauty of sealed concrete floors.  You can scrape up dried paint with a razor blade.  No harm.

This is the first piece painted white that didn’t get a treatment of dark wax, which would have made it a creamy color rather than white.

Table Hardware

The white contrasts with the dark areas where I sanded a little more.  Even though it’s roughed up a bit, the white gives it a clean look.

SD removed the hinges to paint the drawers, and I was thinking maybe I should replace them with something else.  But, when I found this stencil to embellish the top, the hinges matched too perfectly to think of changing them.

Stencil Painted on Table Top

The stencil came from Hobby Lobby.  I sanded areas to make it uneven, for a worn look.

SD and I have had so much fun playing with paint.  God gifted us with a love of creativity, and at times it feels like a need we have…to create, a desire to improve someone’s cast-offs into something to enjoy, something useful but prettier.  He not only gives us gifts of things but gifts of vision, a direction to go with even the small things in life.

ASCP Table Complete

This table update is a little shabby, fancy, and feminine – all rolled into one.   Do you have a table that needs a redo?  Do you like shabby, fancy, and feminine?

Thank you for visiting! ~ Just a note to remind you to follow me through email, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Google+ or Hometalk.  Also, I’d love it if you shared Curtain Queen with all your sweet friends.  Thanks, y’all.
