Last Wednesday, I published a tablescape with a Chevron vase centerpiece. I thought Chevron fabric napkins would look pretty on the table. I briefly explained my frustration with finding the right presser foot for edge stitching those napkins.
I won’t go into the entire story, but let’s just say my time of searching and frustration lasted almost a week.
After initially searching and not finding, I called a Pfaff serger dealer, wrapped myself in discouragement, surfed the internet, searched my memory for details about the presser feet that came with the machine, emailed an Ebay seller with a question, worried over it a little more, prayed for help (finally – duh!), searched my machine’s “secret compartment”, and finally, I searched my stash one more time. The presser foot I needed for the napkins was hiding under a tissue – the same spot I searched in the very beginning!
Hurray! But, hmm…
Why didn’t I see it the first time I searched in that drawer? Does that ever happen to you?
Sometimes, the thing we are looking for is right there, and we don’t see it.
It’s that way with other things, too. Let’s take happiness, fulfillment, and love, for example. Most of the time, we search here and there, and everywhere.
Everywhere except the place where they are offered
freely, faithfully, completely.
God is there. He is waiting for us to turn to Him, seeking Him to fill our every need. When we seek Him with our whole heart, we will find Him. We know this because He tells us so in Jeremiah 29:13. I believe God’s word. Do you?
God gives us confirmation when we are on the right track. Just this morning while editing this post, Charles Stanley came on the TV in the other room. I heard his opening question, “When you face discouragement, what do you do?”. Isn’t God amazing? (I would ask, “How did He know?”, but of course He knows everything!)
Dr. Stanley’s whole sermon today is about handling discouragement and how God is with us and will encourage us when we seek Him.
That’s no coincidence. That’s the God He is. Ever-present. Timely. Humorous, at times. He will fill your heart with song at every occurrence in your life when you’re in tune with Him.
Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow.
I pray you seek God with your whole heart. Praise God this Spectacular Sunday as you find Him.
