You see the handle on my “canvas”? Yep, it’s an old cabinet door. Got several of those a few months ago at “my favorite salvage place” in North Mississippi. It was a dollar. Most doors were painted, but this one was stained. I sanded it lightly, spray-painted it black, and then the fun began.
The black-and-white check is a tea towel from Dollar Tree. I love textiles, so this fed my love for all things fabric. Found a sketch of a rooster and drew my own version on a larger scale. Cut out the pattern on the towel, brushed the back side with wallpaper paste to attach it to the door. It’s amazing what you find when you dig in your closets, y’all. Didn’t even know I still had wallpaper paste! I tied three ribbons on the handle and attached a picture hanger on the back.
Oh, almost forgot. In my craft cave, I found some fuzzy red stuff. Don’t know what it’s called, but I love the whimsy of it, also the softness with the textured towel. Loving this rooster, but it may have to go in the barn. Nowhere in the house for black/red/white theme. Anything goes in a barn – especially a barn bird, y’all!
