I discuss many types of DIY projects on this blog, and I don’t avoid discussing the most important DIY of all – ourselves.
As we discussed last Sunday, we (I) need to get better at Recognizing the Voice. Once we realize who we’re dealing with, we can chart a plan of action to block it.
Do you block certain phone calls from getting through to you? Well, that’s what we’re working on today – except it’s the voice we’re blocking from getting into our mind and thoughts rather than a phone call.
If you are a believer in Jesus, you understand what I’m talking about. Satan works tirelessly to make you feel inadequate, unloved, insecure, incapable…basically not good enough. How many times have you been on the receiving end of this?
The way to combat Satan in his schemes against your mind and thoughts is to examine what God says about you. God’s truth is what we are to believe, not Satan’s lies.
To push out the negative thoughts Satan inflicts on us, we must replace them with God’s truth.
What does God want His people to know? Let me count the ways…
You are tenderly loved by God. (Jeremiah 31:3)
You are the sweet fragrance of Christ to God. (2 Corinthians 2:15)
You are chosen by God, holy and dearly loved. (Colossians 3:12)
You are united to the Lord, one spirit with him. (1 Corinthians 6:17)
You are Christ’s friend. (John 15:15)
You have been made complete in Christ. (Colossians 2:10)
You are born of God, and the evil one cannot touch you. (1 John 5:18)
You are God’s workmanship. (Ephesians 2:10)
The good work that God has begun in you will be perfected. (Philippians 1:6)
You cannot be separated from the love of God. (Romans 8:31)
Your needs are met by God. (Philippians 4:19)
You have been rescued from Satan’s domain and
transferred into the kingdom of Christ. (Colossians 1:13)
You have been given great and precious promises by God. (2 Peter 1:4)
You are chosen by Christ to bear fruit. (John 15:16)
You are firmly rooted and built up in Christ. (Colossians 2:7)
You have been given a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7)
The list continues on and on, folks! God gives us many promises and affirmations in His Holy Word.
Re-read the list and replace “you are” with “I am”- sometimes “you” with “I” or “me”, when appropriate. Let those statements soak in. This will equip you to replace the tapes in your head from Satan’s ugliness to God’s loving affirmations. Refuse to listen to Satan any longer.
God loves you! He wants you to know and understand what He has for you, how He feels about you. He wants you to live like it.
Much of today’s post was gleaned from The Armor of God study by Priscilla Shirer. I highly recommend going through the study. It’ll challenge you and change you, as the Holy Spirit does with us through Bible study.
Have you gone through an impactful study lately? Can you share what study it was and how it affected you?
