Have you written out your Thanksgiving menu? Or, are you like me…running behind this year? We know it’s within a week, so if you’re behind like I am, let’s get our ducks in a row!
I sat at my computer yesterday and created our Thanksgiving menu largely by looking over my Mains and Sides posts. You didn’t know I print my own recipes, did you?
I confess…printing fresh copies is easier than ruffling through hundreds of recipe cards.
Spunky Daughter has several requests on the list. I’ve included at least one that PAM (Painter Artist Mom) especially likes – plus the buttermilk pound cake recipe from her mother. HBD (Handy Builder Dad) will recognize the cornbread dressing from days gone by since it’s his mother’s recipe.
Do you love to go all out and cook a lot of different foods? Isn’t it great to have leftovers to get you through the entire weekend? Our biggest problem is fitting all the leftovers into the refrigerator after the big meal. Isn’t that right, ladies?
HH asked what was with the printer – why I was printing so many pages. It’s very handy to go down the menu list, print each recipe, and take stock of your pantry items before shopping for ingredients.
Here are the menu items with links for printing most of the recipes. I hope this makes your list-making and Turkey Day organizing easier.
Let’s Print Recipes!
I’d planned to make the Scrumptious Pumpkin Pecan Cobbler, but with requests for other additional desserts, I decided to skip the cobbler this year. That’s OK. We can have it at Christmas. 😉
SD said recently that she misses the pumpkin roll we had for many years in the old neighborhood. My late friend Kim, who we lost last year, was a tremendous cook. She made pumpkin rolls and sold them around the neighborhood for us to stock our freezers before Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I don’t have Kim’s recipe, but when we were following a strict diet of no sugar, wheat, or dairy, I used a recipe that had a few substitutions. It still wasn’t completely “clean”, but it was very tasty.
I hope to share the pumpkin roll recipe soon as I attempt to satisfy SD’s craving.
Would you like to possibly make it for Christmas? 🙂
