Palm Sunday. Can you imagine what it was like? Jesus entering Jerusalem, riding on a donkey? It may not seem like it, but what a king’s entrance it was!
Palm Sunday…palm leaves waved in celebration…palm leaves cast on the ground ahead of Jesus to pave His grand entrance.
People were excited to have Him there. They had encountered Jesus in a real and personal way. And, we can, as well.
Followers of Jesus had no idea what the following Friday would bring – just as we have no idea about tomorrow. They had a true test of faith ahead.
I wonder how we would fair in that sort of trial. Would we continue to trust? Would we doubt?
What do you think you would do with your (then new-found) faith in that situation? The Holy Spirit wasn’t a part of a believer’s life quite yet. If they sought Him as we seek Him today, how did He communicate with them other than in real-time face-to-face encounters?
I’m so thankful I don’t have to worry about that. Are you, too? We may live in shaky times, but we have countless reasons to be thankful!
As we approach this eventful week of our faith history, let us seek the Lord as never before. As for today, may you find His presence in your heart…and in your house of worship this morning in anticipation of our week ahead!
