The Sky is Not Falling – Pray God’s Word!

Many of you encouraged me very much week before last.  I appreciate your kind words…the Biblical truths you shared…and the prayers you uttered on our behalf.  HH and I are truly blessed!

If you missed my Sunday post two weeks ago, then you’re wondering what I’m talking about.  After several weeks of silence, I spoke of something we’ve been dealing with at our house – an attack from Satan on our family.  The purpose wasn’t for you to feel sorry for us, but to let you know our family is like yours.  Vulnerable.

I wanted to encourage those of you who are dealing with a battle of your own to stand strong for Christ.  (And, then you turned it around and encouraged me!)  God teaches us so much during hard times, but we still struggle with the why.  I wish I had all the answers for you, but I don’t.

I do know that God has the answers for you – for all of us.  He is faithful to provide the spiritual food that is perfect for our needs each day.  When you seek Him through His word, He gives you scripture that strengthens you, calms you, and shows you His promises.  God leads you to verses you can cling to.  In the process, He increases your faith and deepens your relationship with Him.

I want to share this book by Beth Moore that a dear friend gave me a while back.  I started reading it immediately, but I soon added more books to my stack and skipped over to another one.  A couple of weeks ago, when I picked the book off the shelf again, I opened it to my bookmark and began where I left off.  Every perfectly worded prayer formulated from scripture is balm to my soul.

Praying God's Word

Each chapter focuses on overcoming something.  The prayers written straight from Bible verses are intended for overcoming strongholds – our battlefields.  The chapter topics include:

Idolatry…Unbelief…Pride…Deception…Insecurity…Addiction…

Despair Resulting from Loss…Unforgiveness…Continued Feelings of Guilt…

Depression…Sexual Strongholds…The Enemy.

My goal is to share the tools (besides the Bible) that have helped me deal with the things Satan uses – my weak points.  We all have our weaker areas, and that’s exactly where he weasels his way in to destroy us.  Follow the link* below if you’re interested in purchasing Praying God’s Word by Beth Moore.

We give Satan too much credit, too much power over us.  He has no power over Jesus Christ.  Let me restate that.

Satan has no power over Jesus Christ.

“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”  1 John 4:4

When he wallops you with a doozy, don’t run around feeling that the sky is falling.  Pray God’s word…it releases you from the wrong focus.  The right focus is on Jesus Christ, not the situation you are in.  Although, like me, you may have to work at it to keep a steady focus on God’s promises.

Yet, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can master it.  Yet…

Let us praise His holy name today, this spectacular Sunday!

I’m sharing this post with the link-up at Metamorphosis Monday and What to do Weekends – because our spiritual exploration and renewal through Jesus is the most beautiful metamorphosis of all.

So true . When you are at your lowest is when Christ can strengthen you most.

Kim…I downloaded that book some time ago to my PC as a free Kindle book. I’d forgotten. Thanks for the reminder.

I guess your experience helps us to see that we all need each other and that’s why we’re a part of the body of the Christ and not just our own little islands. Glad that you’re feeling loved as much as you so generously give yourself on the blog.

Beth Moore is one of my favorite Bible authors and teachers. So gets right to the point in all she says or writes. I’m so glad you were able to fend of satan’s attack. Blessings to you and yours!

Thank you! Linda, if you happen to find that in scripture, I’d love to know where it is. That’s very interesting! Beth Moore’s book is very helpful in guiding us in prayer. 🙂
