After years of darkness, it was finally the appropriate season. Perfectly timed with their willingness to be used in spite of their origin, with all their imperfections, they have been transported into the light.
The storage box, dark and lonely, had become home. Comfortable, in a sense. Not an ideal home, but a secure location for something so treasured, one that had been crafted with a complete purpose yet unknown.
Its young-life purpose was to serve those who collected them with care – piece by piece, prudently over time. Weeks, and then months, small bits of money and/or green stamps sacrificed to possess such simple beauty.
Not a Fine Bone China, but it was an acceptable substitute. Smooth, clean white. Rimmed in silver.
After the time living in darkness, they were ready to be brought into the open, to be appreciated for what they have to offer, ripe for new purpose. At last, the incomplete Piggly Wiggly China set could realize the long-awaited service it was designed to ultimately offer.
The delicate but under-valued China cannot change its origin, its status in life. Yet it has a predestined purpose, all the same.
Eventually, someone notices the beauty, if we wait long enough. Someone appreciates our attributes if we are patient. Possibly, we were already appreciated and just didn’t realize it. Treasured by someone outside our sphere of understanding.
Someone who offers light, acceptance in spite of our imperfections, and love and forgiveness. The special Someone gives us a purpose that we’d never known, one we never would have understood or appreciated as a place of value…before our time in the darkness. A new life in the light, serving our new purpose alongside others with a new purpose.
The formerly hidden side, the under side, reversed and brought into view…because it was time. It was also in its season for a new purpose.
Placed alongside other treasured finery (like Rosette Napkin Rings)…with their own imperfections but useful in their new-found purpose.
All things brought into the light cared for by the caregiver of the sparrows.
Redeemed and made new.
New life in the light.
