Most of us don’t have orange rooms. I had a neighbor in Georgia who had a beautiful orange kitchen. I’m not normally into orange, but I could have lived in her kitchen. It was so vibrant and fun!
Some of us have shades of red, coral, or pink that we feel wouldn’t do well with orange. When it comes to Fall decorating, sometimes we hesitate.
After creating this shades of orange mantel, I have a new opinion of orange in my decorating mix.
Notice the deep red urns. They’re in the brick-red family, or maybe barn red. Take your pick.
With three different shades of orange in the mix, the tones blend well with the bricky red. We don’t have to use perfectly matching colors when putting together a collection. (Don’t miss the tutorial for making these Shirt Sleeve Pumpkins.)
As Painter Artist Mom (a color expert) says, your eye will compensate.
Remember this bright orange and yellow gourd from the Tablescape of Candy Corn? I decided to try it…and discovered I like it.
A mixture of tones makes things more interesting.
Notice the back wall of our shelving is that same brick red.
Bringing a little of that color into the mix of oranges works well for balance. While blending with the room, the orange collection brings the spotlight to the mantel.
What do you think?
Are you ready to brave some orange into your decor? What about after the Fall season passes – then, too?
I can hardly believe it’s weekend time again. Time is racing by – Christmas will be here before we know it. Yes, I did just say that word…don’t get stressed yet about all the shopping, decorating, wrapping…and (fingernails in teeth) baking!
Before we (me included) get tied up in knots about those things, let’s put those thoughts away for later. Enjoy the season of today. Beautiful, colorful, peaceful Fall.
Tell me, what’s on your agenda this weekend? Any Fall decorating or Fall fun plans?
Remember…keep it simple, fun, and stress-free. Life is a treasure!
I’m sharing this post with Metamorphosis Monday. Join the fun, y’all!
