Magnolia Blossom Memorial for Two

What will you do on Memorial Day?  Do you have plans for gathering your family together? Will it be a big event?

Or, will there be time for you and your special guy, ending with a private meal between the two of you?

Magnolia trees are so beautifully blooming right now!

I set a table for HH and I on the porch.  A still-tight Magnolia bloom scented the setting perfectly!

The star napkins are actually tea towels I found at Wal-Mart for a great price last summer.  I’d planned to make two napkins from each towel, but for this table, two is all we need!

We had all the normal accessories for a setting of red, white, and blue – with a mixture of several patterns.

Salt and pepper shakers that Mom 2 gave us are perfect every time – but especially this time.

HH had just returned from a motorcycle trip out west with Fun Son…sort of a guy trip for summer before graduating this coming December…to move on to his next phase of life.

It was a rite of passage of sorts…into adulthood/manhood (sniff).

I’ll change the subject now…before I get all weepy.  (You can find the heart pattern here.)

This little rooster creamer is useful for so many things!

And, roosters are so Americana.

Funny, this picture above with the rooster just happened…didn’t plan it at all.

While Memorial Day is a day of reverent recognition to those who gave their lives for our freedom, there’s no reason we can’t make it a day of celebration.  It’s a celebration of life in a free country, where those before us gave their lives for our benefit.  And we thank them.  We celebrate them!

    Kim,
Love the way you designed your table! Memorial Day is always hard for me as my love gave his life for our great country during the war in Viet Nam.

Your table actually made me smile and I’m going to “do up” my porch this year too! Blessings.

I’m sorry this hits too close to home for you. You have sacrificed much, so I thank you. Very much!

It’s funny that I had no open blooms that day. Now we have several. I hope you all have big plans for the weekend.

Thank you, Pam. Oh, and, I hope you’re having a wonderful and restful time at the beach. (Good luck with that internet connection!) Happy Memorial weekend!
