Did you enjoy your Memorial Day yesterday? It rained here all day, so we were inside either the house or garage all day. It was pretty over the weekend, though, so I went outside to set a table for family that was due to arrive.
Sadly, we suddenly had rain coming, so I cleared everything away.
Surprise again, it rained just a tish and cleared up to be a cool, beautiful, and breezy evening, so we carried our plates back out to the patio at the last minute and ate our meal without all the pretty trimmings.
Isn’t that just the way it is sometimes? Ha!
I found these bread and butter plates last week at Tuesday Morning in Atlanta. For seven bucks, they made a perfect (and cheap) addition to things we already have here in The Land of Making Do.
I love to pick up little accent pieces to make table settings more special. Don’t you?
Since barbecue requires extra napkins, I added more to the chair backs. That punched up the color factor, too.
For the grill theme, I made a centerpiece out of our grilling utensils.
We usually have salad, so I lifted the antique pitcher over an inverted salad bowl. I found this melamine salad server set at Tuesday Morning, too.
Did we need them? Um, well…..they match my red bowl….
The red plastic cups came from this year’s Dollar Tree stock. They have some really fun and colorful outdoor dishes this year. The black dinner plates are from Dollar Tree, too.
For any who are University of Georgia fans, these colors are perfect for you! (Sorry, HH…it was an accident. Wrong bulldog team.)
Since our Memorial Day turned out rainy, we never ate at this particular tablescape. Oh, well…there’s plenty of time for that. We’ve got the whole summer ahead!
A little rain doesn’t have to spoil your whole parade. Maybe just delay it a little. Did you enjoy eating outdoors over the weekend? Or, did you eat inside due to rain?
I’m sharing this post at Tablescape Thursday. Come along for the fun!
