Seven or eight Christmases ago, a friend and I made personalized candles for many people on our Christmas gift lists. They were a big hit, and many still have their candles, but the candles are burned down to almost nothing. Recently, I had a request from two recipients that they wanted a new candle this Christmas, because theirs were too well-used to be used again.
I asked if they wanted a different color, style, etc., and they said they wanted an identical “redo”. I had no idea this gift had been such a great thing, y’all. Here’s a picture of mine, which is still hanging in there – barely. Think I’ll make me a new one, too.
You can buy these three-wick large candles at your hobby store, but they’ve gotten rather pricey. $30 at Hobby Lobby, but with their 40% coupon, it’s much better. Sorry to talk about price when it’s a gift, but price always matters, right? (Especially in these economic times.) I also found some of these three-wick candles at Walmart for a much lower price. Sorry, I can’t remember the exact amount.
I dug through my craft stash and pulled out my stencils I used the first time around.
You may recognize this stencil, because I used it recently for the Initialed Purse. This investment has been well worth whatever it cost me all those years ago. I have used it more than any other stencil I own. Nice big letters! The border around the letter on the candles comes from this stencil that has lots of squigglies to choose from. Squigglies is my personal technical term, y’all.
