It’s nearly been a year since our first family beach trip. I know. How could we have waited so long?
First of all, we’re snow ski people, so that was our vacation for a lot of the years. We also liked going with HH on some of his business trips.
You know how it goes…time passes and suddenly you wake up and realize you never did something you always thought you’d do.
We thought we’d go to the beach again this August, but just as we started looking for a place to rent, the latest beach scare hit the news.
Don’t go near the beach!
Flesh-eating bacteria found.
Well, who’d want to go now? Not us!
Enjoying a meal set with a summer sand tablescape won’t be as fun as going to the beach, but at least it satisfies a little beach trip longing. Isn’t summer mostly about sun, sand, beach, fun, and watermelon?
Watermelon is great for any summer tablescape!
I found the cloth a while back on clearance somewhere – either T. J. Maxx, Tuesday Morning, or Ross.
I love the blues and green with the small yellow stripe mixed with the few aqua tones I found inside my cabinets. It all became sort of a blend of not exactly matched colors but like tones.
The plastic baskets are only about three years old. I say “only” because I bought them cheap at Dollar Tree for tablescaping…and then they sat…and sat…and sat. You saw them in A Seashore Scape – Sorry, No Sally in April, so these baskets are getting action this year! That post had lots of beach decor and shells.
This time, we have mostly sand…
…sun (the chargers)…
…water (the platter)…
…and real watermelon.
A few turtles are scattered here and there.
I always think of lemons as pairing with seafood, but does it really?
It looks delicious, so of course I wanted to share her recipe with you.
Does summer make you long for sand? What about sun? Water? Melon? Or, beach cake?
Me, too. All of that. What would you add to your list of summer longings?
