How to Relish in the Day When Fall Falls…

We were all waiting for it…and, then when it happened, it happened suddenly.  Haha!  Does that sound like something eerie is about to happen?

Maybe you did like me this year and went along with our southern temps, dragging ourselves into fall.  Thankfully, cool finally happened!

HH and I were in Atlanta for the first part of last week.  Before we got home Wednesday afternoon, the weather had turned cool and was perfectly fall-like.  What a nice welcome home!

Does cooler weather make you want to get outside, skip through the yard, go on a hike, or do something exploratory?  Well, it does me, and I did.  I just couldn’t stop myself from decorating our front porch for fall.

Yes, we need woolens for extra covering on cool fall mornings while reading…listening while geese and ducks fly over…soaking it all in.  The sounds of fall are just as delicious as Gingerbread Pumpkin Trifle, Apple Pie in a Poke, and good ol’ Southern Sweet Potato Pie!

That’s right.  Relish it.

Something else that gives a feeling of cold weather is this  vintage-styled fireplace pail filled with pine cones.

Our days are still in the 80’s, so the coal-scuttle pail brings thoughts of warming necessities in the dead of winter.

Are you feeling it yet?

At the other end of the porch, I added a crochet throw my grandmother Bradley made.  The fall colors are perfect for the season, and the throw is large enough to cover two or three people – all sitting in the swing.

Y’all, come on over!

While romping the fields, I snipped straw and bundled it with orange gross-grain ribbon.  Free fall decorations are the best!

Pumpkins, mums, chalk-painted gourds, too.

Bird houses on the old revived ladder now have painted gourds in the mix – plus a few other details.

And, of course…boots are a necessity this time of year!

Fall Porch Decor

Cuttings trimmed while romping were added to the wreath – not really noticeable, but natural is always nice added to faux!

Crepe myrtle berries and evergreen branch cuttings never hurt.  🙂

Did you get in the fall decorating mood over the weekend?  Did you do all you wanted to do, or are you still tweaking?

Blessings~

Should I apologize for make you drag out more stuff? Ha! That wasn’t my intention, but maybe you should go with it? Happy Fall!

Fall? Hmm. Have not really been able to enjoy it OUTSIDE. But inside…it’s FALL galore with all my decorations!

RAIN. RAIN. RAIN. I feel like I live in Seattle. LOL I do not like rain. (Quick summer showers are ok) It makes me tired. (And yes, I have vitamin D deficiency and take a supplement daily).

Anyway….rain + dog = STINK. rain + already stinky (but still exceptionally cute!) dog = EEEEWWWW!!!!
He needs a bath sooooo bad. I have been patiently awaiting a non-raining day to take him for an OVERHAUL. hahaha

I see a little bit of sun trying to peek through the clouds!!!! WHOOOHOOO!
Saddle up doggy…..we are goin’ to PETSMART!!!! YOU are gettin a spa day! hahahaha

I am telling the groomer I don’t want him back until he smells SUPERCLEAN. I don’t care if they have to wash him FIVE times. LOL (They never really wash him good enough. I’m paying $53 so I want him CLEAN. No more Mrs. Nice Guy haha) And man does he need a haircut. The hair on his feet is super long. (He doesn’t like his feet touched so I couldn’t cut the hairy legs and feet this summer when I gave him his “faux hawk”.)

It is supposed to rain again in a few days. I will cuddle my clean dog while the fresh aroma lasts.

    Today I will enjoy FALL….OUTSIDE!

I forgot to say I love that porch…especially the ladder.
Q had his 3 hour spa time and he really DOES smell WONDERFUL! I am asking for that lady all the time! She de-stinked the stinktastic Quincy!!!

I’ve been all over him since he got home. (I don’t think he likes THAT much attention…with mommy smelling him so hard. hahahahaha)

I was out shopping that 3 hrs….time flew! I got Super Teen some b-day gifts (Nov 1) at Marshalls and Pac Sun. Hit the wholesale club for a few things and browsed the Christmas aisle. I went “smell testing” some body lotions (Patchouli & Buriti) at the Vitamin Shoppe. It’s cheaper online so I came home and bought it. (You can’t smell it online. LOL!)

Not a bad 3 hrs. Lots of browsing, not so much SPENDING. I felt like the young mom who just dropped her lil one off at preschool…rushing around but feeling FREE. LOL

Surely wish some of Robin’s rain would come our way. I’m beginning to wonder if the dry west is going to get all of it. Ha. Since we’re in a severe drought here, everything, even some trees, are dying. I noticed my azaleas are dying. We just haven’t been able to get out and water my flowers as I like so I’ll just have to let them go. Kim, Your decorations are so pretty and you always do such a great job, and so many times, just from nothing. I know now why HH has that big building out by the side of your house. It has to be for you to store your things in. Love you girl, and keep on keeping on. Have a great Fall (season that is).

I wish we could lasso those clouds and pull them this way. HH said he saw three piles of debris burning in people’s yards on the way to town Saturday…guess the burn ban notice hasn’t been noticed by a few. I’m sorry about your azaleas. I’ve lost a couple of bushes, too. I just didn’t realize until it was too late. Phuey! Ha! That building is a barn, and HH won’t even take the garage stuff out there, much less my extra items. (It’s OK…I’ve got pretty much the entire house. That should be enough, right?) Haha! Thanks, Mrs. C! Happy Fall to you and Mr. C! 🙂
