Do you have a porcelain sink? Do you have problems keeping it clean of scar marks caused by pots and pans?
How about rust stains? Do you get those, too?
When we last visited Fun Son, I noticed his porcelain sink had several scars from pots and pans scraping while he cleans them.
I have a black porcelain sink, so scars aren’t noticeable. A few weeks ago, I decided to clean my sink and did a little research. (My issues were something unrelated to scarring.) In my research, I ran across a site that said what to use to remove scars and rust stains on white sinks.
Isn’t that a nice coincidence? Fun Son’s sink isn’t white, but it’s a sand color, as is everything in his apartment. Being two blocks from the beach, you could literally dump a bucket filled with sand in his apartment, and you’d never notice.
When I saw the scarring on Fun Son’s double sink, I was happy to know the solution. I snagged this pumice scouring stick while picking up some recipe items at Wal-Mart. I didn’t see an actual pumice stone, so I thought I’d give this a try. (I will not receive compensation of any kind from this product or from Wal-Mart. This post is my honest opinion only.)
The package says the bar is useful for many other things, too. Ureka! I had a solution for the rust stains in the sink!
The bar has a porous but firm texture. It wears away rather quickly compared to a true pumice stone, but I have to think this stick is easier to use on the stains.
It molds to the shape of the surface you’re cleaning.
Here is the rusting on one side of the sink.
A little scrubbing with the stick, and rinse away any rust staining.
As you scrape the stick across the stains and scars, it crumbles and deteriorates the stick in the area you’re using.
Rinse away the crumbles to clear your view so you can see if you need to work on the stain more thoroughly.
Scrub all areas with the pumice stick until scarring and rust stains are gone. Then give the sink a general overall cleaning with your favorite cleanser. Rinse away the dirt and bubbles, and enjoy your new clean sink!
Do you have a porcelain sink with scars and rust stains? What procedure do you use for cleaning your sink?
I’m sharing this post at Metamorphosis Monday.
