Are you ever shy about making a big to-do over a milestone? While I hesitated at first, I soon realized it would be a great time to share my blogging anniversary and give you a progress report of sorts.
First of all, I want you to know that I appreciate you visiting regularly and sharing part of your day with me. It still blows me away that you find value in the posts I publish each week. (Actually, it’s humbling.)
Can you believe this is the 1,028th post I’ve published? That shocked me, too. Also, there are 8,009 comments on those posts.
That’s my favorite part – our conversations though your comments. I learn so much from you! I feel like you’re sitting in my house with me, and we’re having a regular conversation. I love that.
Even though my blog name hints toward making curtains, my life is about so much more than curtains! That’s why this blog covers several topics.
In October of 2014 and November of 2015, I asked questions through surveys in order to understand what topics you like most and least. I’m always surprised that many of you are interested in the sewing tutorials and really do want help with making window treatments.
For some odd reason, I had in my mind that no one has an interest in sewing these days. My surveys always dispel that notion.
Nearly everyone who contacts me through the contact page has questions about a window treatment sewing project they’re working on. And, some just want a second opinion to make sure they’re on track.
It’s like when we shop with other women. We depend on our friends to tell us the truth.
How does this look?
What do you think about this?
Do you think that would be OK?
That’s how we women are. We sometimes need instruction and other times confirmation. And we want to know the truth.
It became clear that some of you need my help in the curtain-making area. That’s the area where I have the most experience in sewing – and with all types of home decor items. So, home decor sewing e-courses were spawned.
You may already know the Learn to Sew Home Decor course is complete. It’s open for new participants to begin a round of the seven lessons together as a group beginning on November 15th. If you’re interested in that course, you can read all about it here. Class enrollment closes on November 12th, so don’t delay! Feel free to share it with your friends on social media, too.
The Sewing Basics of Home Decor is also complete, so I’ll release that course very soon. Currently, I’m working steadily on the course for sewing drapery panels of all types. It’s my favorite (and largest) course so far!
I said in the beginning that I wouldn’t discuss cleaning projects, and you may have noticed that I’ve begun doing a few here and there. You seem to really like them. (You really do speak loudly with what you respond to when reading my emails.)
I’m planning another survey soon – to get to know the likes and dislikes of you newer readers.
Happy Monday, everyone! It’s been fun catching up on things and starting our “chat”. Now it’s your turn. Talk to me. The comment section is waiting (and so am I, behind the scenes). 🙂
