Hello, Fall. We’re Ready, Wreaths and All!

Welcome, Fall!  Do I hear a chorus behind me, singing “Alleluia!” ?

I had not planned to change my wreath until Christmas.  But, Spunky Daughter (SD) asked for a fall wreath for the door of the apartment that she and Fun Son share.  I needed some things from my front door wreath, so I dismantled it to create SD’s new wreath.  (The beach-themed wreath wasn’t doing it for me anymore, anyway.)

hello, Fall! Wreath and All

I started with last year’s Christmas door decor from their apartment…

Christmas, 2015, Door Decor

removed all things red and green…

Christmas, 2015, Door Decor

added the boingy thingies from my late summer wreath

Wreath in Beach to Fall

added baby corn from my fall stash…

Fall Door Decor

and the back side of a chalk board Painter Artist Mom had painted on the front side…plus ribbon chosen by SD at HobLob…

and wrote my favorite fall message this year.

Hello Fall Door Decor

I sent SD a picture, and she approves.  (Delivery there soon.)

Hello Fall Door Decor

Once my door was empty, I grabbed an old wreath out of the attic and added a painted gourd and new ribbon.  It’ll do.

Fall Wreath

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you may have noticed fun comments by Robin.  She shared pictures with us, first of all, of her dog, Quincy.  It’s nice to put a furry face with the name.  Hello, Quince!

Robin's Dog, Quincy

Now when Robin mentions Quincy, we’ll know exactly what he looks like.  🙂

Her fall door decoration she made from a tutorial on Hometalk is wonderful – even better than the one on Hometalk!  Didn’t she do such a nice job?

Fall Door Decoration

Robin painted the foam pumpkins a darker orange than the original finish from the dollar store.  She painted the lettering free-hand rather than with a stencil.  Nice!

Fall Door Decoration

The burlap ribbon wrapped around the mini wreaths gives a nice contrast to the orange pumpkins.  The flowers, leaves, and raffia colors add just the right touch, too.  Very nice, Robin!

Fall Door Decoration

Robin is welcoming fall by hanging this decoration in her kitchen.

How are you welcoming fall this year?

Happy finally  fall, y’all!

EEEEK! I’m so excited!!! Quincy is now internet famous! hahahaha And so is my FALL sign!!!
Thank you for including my craft and my “road dawg” in your post! I was asking him if he wanted a treat in that pic. LOL My freehand letters were…eh…ok. I guess it gives it a more homey, handmade look. My stencils are somewhere in the “abyss” aka basement. LOL

Q was a good boy yesterday helping me get that glider and ottoman I purchased from Craigslist for next to nothing. (Yeah, HELPED…he sat there in the front seat. LOL) He wanted to smell them….CATS!?? But he was seated belted in and had to drive over an hour home, and THEN could smell them. That must have been torture! LOL! He was smelling up a storm when he got home.

He also made a new friend at my parents’ house. Bella… she lives across the street. (He now has TWO GF’s named Bella!) She had gotten out the night before and gotten herself SKUNKED! He was sniffing her, probably thinking,” MMM. You smell stinky and I like it!” hahaha She was on her way to the groomer to get some de-stink-service. LOL

In the car he used the 2 bottles of water in the cup holders as pillows. He was pitiful. LOL Super Teen said he was thinking “I just want to gaze at you mommy. I love you so much.” LOL He is my shadow. I can’t make a move without him under foot. When the fam calls him to do something he looks over at me like,”Is it ok, mommy?” I am the boss….. of him. LOL And YES, he gets stepped on a lot cuz I move fast. A tiny dog would never survive in my house. LOL

I love how you remade the wreath for fall for SD! It’s so adorable! And the wreath from the attic looks great as well! It is a great gift to have vision…being able to take apart one thing and revamp it. Some people can’t do that. (Property Brothers….I laugh at the people who say to Jonathan “I just can’t see that,” when he tells them what their re-do will look like. I’m yelling at the TV.) To us, it’s just a no-brainer. I remember to thank God for my crafty talents!!!

Speaking of crafty-talent….I am cutting metal duct strapping today for my way-cheaper-than-pottery-barn galvanized pumpkins. Hopefully I will be done in a few days. I’m doing that in between other things…like washing the cat hair from what seems like 50 cats out of the seat cushions of my Craigslist glider! LOL Probably why it was so cheap! (They are in the dryer now. I’m sure my lint trap has enough cat hair to make a coat! Ha!) My sister has 6 cats and you would not even know it. No hair. No smell. YES, she cleans a lot. But it is worth it.

The glider, ottoman and cushions will get revamped. The ottoman cushion will be remade. Eventually. Gotta get the deal when you see it. Snooze, you lose. LOL

Today I might break out the new Graco paint sprayer and start painting the rim joists in the basement. I wish it was that easy. I have to read the manual 1st (UGH!) so I don’t ACCIDENTALLY spray the couch. WHOOPSIE! hahaha

Walmart’s fall kitchen decor aisle is one of my fave places. I saw a felt-ish placemat with leaves and thought “MAYBE I could sew it onto a piece of fabric to make a pillow!” We shall see. My daughter has the fox mug. The fox plates are too cute. They had them last year as well. They have so much stuff! I love “fall plaid”. I wish I had a kitchen table so I could decorate TWO tables! Fall, Fall, EVERYWHERE! I may have to add a fall plaid runner to my huge kitchen island. Who said I can’t decorate THAT??!!I’m thinking about fall leaf garland over the windows like I do with Christmas garland. Dollar Tree has some. I can fill it in with a couple of them and add some of my real pine cones. Beats paying a ton more buying it at a craft store. Even at 50% off it is not cheap, so the dollar store is the way to go.

    F.A.L.L. F.R.E.N.Z.Y.!!!!

Saturday it will be fall weather in NJ…perfect for “Newfield Day”…parade, food, games, and CRAFTS!!! I am going just to get craft ideas. It’s only around the corner so I can get in and get out fast. I like that it starts at noon cuz this Saturday I get to sleep a little later! YIPPEE!!! (It is a RARE thing around here.) I cherish it.

Robin, can you hear me laughing hysterically at what you say Quincy said to his new friend? You’re so funny. You seem to have a LOT of energy for all these projects along with your basement recovery program. And, yes, Fall Frenzy…need to get to Wal-Mart to check out their new fall stock. Thanks again for sharing Quincy and your fall pumpking hanging! 🙂

Thank you, Pam. We were both so ready to welcome fall, weren’t we? I need to go pumpkin shopping. Your porch has inspired me to go beyond the doors! 🙂

Love all the wreaths you girls have made. I’m sure the birds will love the one with the corn in it. Almost every day there is a Cardinal that comes to our back porch and eats some of the cat food. One morning Joe got up and came to the kitchen. The cat food bowls were empty and the pretty Cardinal was sitting there looking in the door, waiting for some food. Animals are so cute sometime.

Thank you, Mrs. C. Yes, birds would normally be my consideration, but the apartment is surrounded by many others, and each doorway is inside an alcove. I’ve never seen birds near the doors there. Animals are so funny…often remind me of human behavior. 🙂
