I need your participation in a little exercise. For my next sentence, imagine that I am in a beautiful dress and heels, waving as the crowd screams excitedly while I walk out on the stage of a talk show like Jay Leno or Oprah.
Okay, thank you so much for your cooperation. I needed to have my moment. I think it’s important to stop and think of yourself as a famous celebrity sometimes.
I’m so excited to be here! I have honestly wanted to do a thing or two here or there on my mom’s blog, but I never had a clue what I would say. It’s 9:30 in the morning as I write this. And, boy, do I have some inspiration now, for some odd reason! That seems strange, considering I was awake until four AM working on a school project. (It’s finals week. Ugh.)
A Little About Me
I am an interior design major at Mississippi State University. I was inspired to choose this major because of my wonderful mother. When you’re basically raised on HGTV and DIY Network, you must at least consider the idea! Between that and being exposed to (and sometimes helping with) tablescapes, blog projects, and all-around crafty stuff, I knew I wanted to give interior design a chance.
After only one full semester in my major courses, I am now totally in love. It’s a ton of work, but I enjoy it.
This is me with my dog, Dorothy.
I named Dorothy after my all-time favorite interior designer, Dorothy Draper.
Look for a post from me about Dorothy Draper soon!
Also, I love, love, love to write. My way of expressing myself is through poetry, which has given me a big heart for writing anything in general. In fact, I am considering the field of publishing for design magazines once I finish my degree. That brings me to…
Why I Am Here
My mom has already told you that I’ll be participating in a few posts, giving design tips and things like that. I am only about halfway through my major courses, but I have learned so much. I will be sharing all I can with you, such as color usage, balance, popular materials, and some basic design tools for decorating a space.
Please, please, please ask questions and make suggestions. If there is something that you want me to share, do not hesitate to ask. My favorite thing in the world is to share the things I learn.
Again, I am so excited to be a part of this! I hope you enjoy my participation as much as I will.
Ta-ta for now~
