Firecracker, Firecracker, Boom-Boom-Boom!!

Are you allowed to shoot fireworks in your area?

Firecracker, Firecracker Tablescape

That’s one of the benefits of living in the country.  You can use fireworks any time you wish, and you can save unused fireworks for table decor.

Bottle Rockets Centerpiece

In May, Debbiedoo’s had a Dollar Tree Link Party, so I loaded up on all sorts of Dollar Tree items.  I bought these place mats with a future patriotic theme in mind.  So, finally we’re enjoying them for our July 4th celebration table.

Place Setting

The blue plates are the $1 Wal-Mart plates I used in the Tablescape Red, White, and Blue.  The picnic utensils came from Wal-Mart, as well.

I bought the striped plastic plates nine or ten years ago at Target, along with salad plates and bowls.   That was when we lived in a place that had a Target – many Targets.  But then we moved, and there are no Target stores here – in The Land of Making Do.  I love using these dishes during summer – so fun for eating out on the patio – when it’s not too hot.

The napkins are tea towels from Dollar Tree, purchased that day with the other items.  They shriveled up when washed, too small for tea towels.  I like the way they look unpressed and casual – crinkly.

Dollar Tree Towel Assortment

I also bought a red and white clothes line at Dollar Tree.  I decided it would be versatile for many projects – but not for a clothes line.  It looks like something I’ve seen in the past that was used to connect firecrackers together in the package, only a little larger twine.  So, that sparked (no pun intended, y’all) the idea to slip the firecrackers between the strands.

Firecracker Napkin Rings

Don’t be alarmed.  It’s not really lit – just a little “trick photography”.  (Wink.)

Mom 2 gave the salt and pepper set to HH and I one Christmas.  We motorcycle around the country a couple of times a year, not around the whole country, but different parts of the country.  Mom 2 thought this set was something we could have fun with.  It is perfect for today’s table.

Patriotic S & P

Don’t you love it when you remember that a bag of left-over fireworks had been stored in the garage – and you go there to find the bag – and you actually find it?  It’s there, right where you thought you saw it LONG ago.  I love it when that happens.

Bottle Rockets

I found some pretty sparklers, wrapped all pretty for the ladies.   Now, what would July 4th be without those?

Not nearly as fun, that’s what.

Cute Kim! What a clever way to have fireworks on the 4th! Here’s what I can’t figure out, it’s against the law to shoot them in Alabama but you can buy them at fireworks stands all over the place! Seems like a mixed message to me, but now I know I should buy some and put them in a vase of blue hydrangeas of course! So creative, just love it!

I was in the Dollar Tree today and didn’t see any of those cute placemats! I guess they sold out for July 4th!I love your table. We never plan to do fireworks, but we somehow always see a display no matter where we are! Hope we get lucky again this year! Oh, and I love the photo that looks like the fireworks are lit!

Thank you, Jane. I bought the place mats in early May, and they were sort of hidden under many others on the bottom shelf. Sometimes I’m thorough when it comes to digging for a bargain. Anyway, it wouldn’t surprise me if they are all gone by now. I guess all the stores don’t carry the same stuff, either. Thank you for the encouragement. I hope y’all have a wonderful 4th! 🙂

You’ve really shown how to do it with $1 items, Kim! I know a lot of people don’t understand just how much a person can do on a budget, but you’ve put it right out there! Using the clothesline is such a great idea!!!! It is rare that I see clotheslines these days, but I sure remember them from growing up. Neat tie-in….literally! Great trick photography on the napkin, too!

Thank you! Yes, I’ve always been a budget-minded person. My dad always said, it’s not how much you make, it’s how much you keep! I don’t think HH sees me keep as much as he’d like. 😉 And, this was a first for me with the clothes line, too. I give credit to PicMonkey for any and all photo tricks. I hope you have a peaceful, relaxing weekend. 🙂

Very cute idea! Also, your “firecracker, firecracker, boom, boom, boom” reminded of when I was in first grade and I was the mascot for the 8th grade basketball cheerleaders – that was my “solo” cheer that I had to go out in do on the court. Fun! Jane

Oh, how cute! 🙂 I was a cheerleader for a peewee-type league as a child, and that was our favorite cheer. I’m sure everyone else was sick of hearing it. So glad I could get us both down memory lane!
