Have you been waiting? Patiently waiting? I’ve heard no complaints, but I thought you were a little weary of the panels this and panels that, panels, panels, and more panels. Aren’t you even sick of that word?
Sewing season for me is during times of extreme cold and extreme heat. I had such plans! Bedroom curtains (I won’t say that other word again) still need to be made. But, we went on Spring Break…to snow…
As we left the Salt Lake area last weekend, it was heating up and snow was melting. So, Painter Artist Mom and I went shopping. To back up just a bit, we love skiing in Salt Lake Mountains. I love the Colorado Mountains – but not so much the skiing. We motorcycle there whenever we get the chance – during summer – and it is beautiful!
For skiing, Salt Lake is our choice. Everyone has their favorites, I guess. PAM and I have a favorite place to shop in Sandy, Utah, which is where we stay every visit. Gardner Village Shops is a grouping of cute little houses turned into shops – quilting shops, clothing shops, jewelry shops, and more, all put together in a quaint little grouping connected by paved paths, over a little stream, and back again. If you’re ever in that area, please go there for a little creativity boost. You’ll be inspired!
When we arrived home, tired and soar, and ready to get back to “normal”, we discovered Spring had sprung!
Pollen everywhere, Red Buds are budding, tiny leaves on the trees – new life.
And yesterday finally marked our calendar as the beginning of Spring. So, I dashed to the attic and retrieved the Spring door decoration.
Easter being early this year, I knew I didn’t have much time to pull some stuff together. Easter items used around here in the past – hand blown and dyed eggs, a straw wreath, and my favorite polka-dot ribbon cluttered my kitchen table. I was inspired during my Gardner Village shopping to re-create, re-invent, and play with my old stuff to make something new.
HH will be so happy I didn’t go shopping for new. Nothing is wrong with the old, so I’m making do again – and enjoying it.
Never mind the window treatments yet to be sewn, large fabric pieces cut, neatly folded, and waiting.
I’ve got other creative juices flowing. It will be, oh, along about August when I get back to my sewing pile. I’ve got eggs and bunnies and birdies to play with…oh, and flowers to plant and warm weather creativity waiting.
What have you been up to? Has Spring sprung at your house?
