I love lamps, y’all, and I’m excited about the updates going on around here this week.
After checking out websites like Pottery Barn and Ballard Designs, seeing all their beautiful lamps, I was heavily coveting some of those. Yes, I know better. Dangerous game we play, flirting with temptation to break out the plastic for on-line ordering. HH would be happy I resisted, ’cause the most appealing lamps were $150 and up.
Looking around my home, I saw updates that could be done. Fun projects!
I was inspired to use the blessings under this roof and not spend a lot of money on show pieces, or show room pieces.
This little kitchen lamp has been with me a long time. What am I saying? ALL my lamps have been with me a long time! I don’t have the mindset of shopping and buying lamps often. Just when we really need it, y’all.
Love to turn on this corner lamp when I’m spending the day baking. Don’t lamps just cozy things up? No real need for light in this corner. I can’t even tell this lamp is turned on when it’s a bright, sunny day.
More for mood than for need of light. Like a candle burning. Warmth.
Remember the lamp on the left in Bedside Lamp Update? Both lamp bases got a sprayed satin nickel finish – easy, quick, and fast to dry. A real bonus to spray two and one time. Sort of sad to paint over real brass. But, even more sad to leave them the way they were.
Funny how we notice things in stores – and sometimes don’t. With lamps on my “radar” these past few weeks, I suddenly noticed lampshades everywhere. Came across this little red beauty at Lowe’s and loved the color, fun print, and general excitement of it.
Love the red glow from this shade! More apparent in the picture than in the room, but I love the subtle tone.
I’m a color girl. Are you? Don’t get me wrong. I love a monochromatic look. Beautiful rooms in shades of white or beige! Wish I could do it.
No sense denying our true selves. Color energizes me. God truly knows I need that in this stage of my life!
See you tomorrow for our continued week of lamp fun. I’ll be sharing a complete lamp renovated from top to bottom. You’re not going to believe the difference!
Thank you for joining me today for the transformation of lamp #4.
