It was a regular practice back in the day, but I don’t hear of it too often these days. Our church doesn’t do it anymore, either. Boy, wasn’t it fun?
Dinner on the Ground
We’ve graduated our fellowship meals to the air-conditioned fellowship hall. It’s just too hot to do it outside! How did people tollerate the heat way back when?
Patricia Neely-Dorsey has written a menu in poetry to remind us of fellowship meals at church.
Everything on her list is usually included in our fellowship meals. If we’re really blessed, it includes banana pudding, caramel cake, AND a home-made strawberry layer cake!
She is so right to begin and end with The Word. God’s Word is prayed over every meal for a blessing. There is always singing during our time together. That’s worship with a smile!
This little ditty is a good reminder of how things used to be – complete with windshield-sized eye glasses and some hairstyles we’ve long forgotten.
