Debt I Owe

Through the comments below, please share details of those in your lives who do sacrifice or have sacrificed through our armed forces for our freedom…so we can all know them better.

My grandfather’s brother was in WWII. I have his dog tags. My dad was in the air force reserve, but never had to go fight.

My pastor was enlisted in the army during the Vietnam War, but was not out in the field. We have a reverend (marines) and a deacon(army) who were also enlisted at that time. The deacon tells us stories about being in the tank, being shot at, dealing with the people, etc. They had a little mini monkey(forget what the actual name is) friend who liked to ride on their tank. He could see further than them, so he was actually a benefit to them. They’d watch his body language.

I can’t imagine what it is like to be enlisted. My female neighbor is a soldier. I know I could never do it. I am thankful for all those who do what they do to keep us safe.

I watch ed a movie called “The Pledge” on Daystar, the other night. It was about vets. The only thing I didn’t like about the movie was that the one vet, who had died, came back as a ghost and was buggin the troubled kid. (Won’t give away the movie!) Ghosts are demons in disguise, nothing else. For those who know this…we could overlook THAT. I was a bit surprised Daystar allowed that film on their channel. But anyway….the movie was good.

Thanks for sharing that, Robin. The monkey on the tank is a great story – and what a wonderful resource! I can’t imagine enlistment, either, and I’m also thankful for those who live that life for our safety and freedom. I’ve not seen that movie but will look for it. Thanks!

My father was an Army Air Corps pilot in WWII, overseas when I was born and shot down and killed when I was 3 months old. I never saw him, but I never forget to be thankful for his sacrifice and that of all those others who have kept us safe all these years.
