Do you get stressed out when having people over?
Are you intimidated by all the table decor hoopla?
While next week’s tablescape will include everything turkey and Thanksgiving, for today, I wanted to share a simple and casual style of dining for the occasion.
Simple settings can set a calming mood.
Who doesn’t need that escape in our busy world?
Simple doesn’t mean its without excitement, though. Just look at that pop of color!
These gourd plates from Better Homes and Gardens at Wal-Mart are such an inexpensive inspiration for this table.
Layering place mats gives you more tones to highlight.
The paisley print in the dinner napkins repeats the gourd shape. (See Quick 6-Fold Napkin Fleur-De-Lis for the napkin fold.)
With many shades of green, then oranges and deep reds, the choices are endless for place mats, coordinating plates, and stemware. These charcoal Dollar Tree stems bring depth.
They repeat the polka-dot shade and also the flatware.
The center gathering includes a layering of sorts, as well. I love subtle hints of repeat. Don’t you?
The pressure for perfection these days is intense. Just look at Pinterest! Seeing inspiring tables filled with expensive finery can intimidate even the most seasoned hostesses.
So, I’ll say again…no need for big expenditures, no need for stress…use what you have, and all will be well. Being grateful for our present blessings – using them, enjoying them – is the best gift of thanks to honor the One Who provides it all.
Are you hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year? How do you calm your feelings of stress?
I’m sharing this post at Tablescape Thursday.
