How was your Christmas? I hope you made special memories with your family. Nothing can replace the sweetness of that!
Have you begun taking down your decorations, or are you waiting until after New Year’s Day? Usually, the day after Christmas, I’m itching to get it all put away and clean up the house. But since I was so late getting my tree decorated this year, I’ve decided to enjoy it a while longer.
Speaking of New Year’s, are you thinking of projects you’d like to do in your home during 2015. (Wow, can we really be here already?)
Do you plan to repaint any rooms or furniture pieces? Is it easy for you to choose colors, or does that frustrate you?
Choosing a paint color is hard for me. When I painted our kitchen green, I bought about eight different shades of green samples from Sherwin Williams before finally finding the right one. The north-facing room changed my initial green samples to blue-greens. They looked too minty.
Finally, I tried a sample that looked yellowy-green on the paint chip in the store – called Sprout. I doubted it would be right but tried it anyway.
In the north room, it’s exactly the color I wanted. Shocker!
About this time last year, I shared the Sherwin Williams’ paint color forecast for 2014. Keeping up with what’s popular, even if you don’t plan to paint any rooms, helps us be aware of color trends in clothing, as well as in decorating.
The funny thing about The Color of The Year for 2015 is that it’s almost the exact color of my kitchen walls before painting the room green. Gotta love the irony of that! Since the original coral color wasn’t exactly a favorite, I would’ve been unhappy in the room for these eight years.
I say that to encourage you to use colors you love, no matter their popularity. You’ll be happier with it in the long run.
Sherwin Williams’ color of the year is SW 6606 Coral Reef.
For a little more color fun, check out Sherwin Williams’ 2015 Color Forecast. It’s nice to see some vibrant jewel tones appearing again.
Are you thinking of New Year’s resolutions, changes you’d like to make in your routine, that sort of thing?
If you missed my post yesterday about the Jubilee Journey Challenge, you can read about that here.
The challenge will be a fun and inspirational journey to take part in during 2015. With the new year only three days away, I hope you’ll come along with me and several others who joined the Facebook group yesterday. I can hardly wait!
I’m sharing this post with Metamorphosis Monday. Won’t you join us?
