As we narrow in on Halloween, I’d like to share a couple of quick and easy last-minute Halloween or Fall party snacks. No party? No problem. Your family will love them, too. The main snack I wanted to tell you about is this:
Spunky Daughter tested them and said they tasted like my “regular” Rice Krispy Treats, but my “regulars” are a twist on the norm. (I always add 1/2 cup of peanut butter when I make Rice Krispy Treats – yum!)
When you get a bite of candy corn, it’s double yum.
You only need five ingredients for the two snacks we have today (plus the butter for starting the treats).
Candy corn is a staple at our house during Fall. The other ingredients can be found in our pantry/refrigerator most any time of year. How about you?
To make the Candy Corn Peanut Krispy Treats, melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a large sauce pan over medium-low heat. Add a full pack of large marshmallows or 4 cups of tiny marshmallows and stir until melted.
Add 1/3 cup of creamy peanut butter and blend.
Pour in, all together, 1/2 cup peanuts, 6 cups puffed rice cereal, and 1 cup candy corn. Quickly incorporate melted marshmallow mixture throughout cereal, peanuts, and candy corn. Spread into pan and cool.
Cut into squares, and you’re ready to have a party.
Here’s the printable recipe, y’all.
- 4 Tablespoons butter
- 1 package of large marshmallows (or 4 cups tiny marshmallows)
- ⅓ cup peanut butter
- ½ cup peanuts
- 6 cups puffed rice cereal
- 1 cup candy corn
- Melt butter in large sauce pan and add marshmallows. Stir until melted. Add peanut butter and blend together.
- Add peanuts, rice cereal, and candy corn all at one time and quickly incorporate into marshmallow mixture.
- Smooth into 9" x 13" pan prepared with vegetable spray. Cut into squares after cool.
The inspiration for these treats – and the second snack I’m sharing today – is a mixture of candy corn (with candy pumpkins, if you like) and peanuts in a bowl. A friend at church the other day was talking about how good this combo was, so I had to try it (of course, y’all, ’cause it has candy corn in it!).
Can you get any easier than dumping stuff in a bowl?
SD says it tastes like a Payday. I guess maybe she’s right. It’s just good, that’s all I can really say, besides easy.
I’ll be taking a bowl of this to our tail-gate party this weekend, as well. We’re getting ready today for our barn party tonight, so I’ll be sharing some things about that next week.
Happy Fall weekend, y’all!
