Be True to Who You Are

The best advice I received as I began blogging was to be myself.  I’ve consistently tried to do just that.

That’s why I cover so many topics – because I love to involve myself in many things around my home.  I thrive on change, and the thought of discussing only one main topic bores me to tears!  I think it’s the nature of creative people (and God made us this way!).

I realize some readers may not like reading about God.  But, He’s part of who I am, and I’m not going to hide Him.  If a reader doesn’t like reading about faith in God, they can choose to ignore my Sunday posts – just as they can ignore my gardening posts or tablescape posts if they prefer not to read those.

And God forbid someone should push government to legislate that I change my topics to fit their  wants.  (Let us pray that won’t happen, although I suspect it’s coming…eventually.)

Do you feel exposed when you let your hair down?  Are you afraid people will think of you as strange…not normal?  It’s a fear many of us have.  We don’t want to be singled out as weird or odd.  We want to be normal…and liked!

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. (Psalm 139:13-16)

When I ponder how God feels about us, I wonder why we care so much what others think.  What does it matter really?  We can’t please everyone, so who should we live to please?

You know the answer…God.  He made you special – prized  special!  (Even if you don’t acknowledge His existence, God specially formed you and loves you.)

To be our best selves, we should be who God created us to be…not pretending to be something else, like maybe something (or someone) we’d like  to be.

God made you for great things – for His purposes.  When we try to be something we’re not, we miss what He had for us in the first place.

I encourage you today…to be you.  Take off the mask (or horse head) you might be wearing and be the wonderful person God created you to be.  Be true to who you are and do what God set out for you to do.

I’m glad you’re here, and I’m glad you are you!

Let’s celebrate God’s goodness today – His goodness in creating you, for one.  He’s the best!

I plan to take tomorrow off from publishing a post.  I hope you have plans for a very special fourth!

Spectacular Sunday and July fourth weekend blessings to you and yours~
