I’ve always said we should use what we have and enjoy those things. Rather than shoving things into cabinets or closets and forgetting them, bring them out for joy!
Are there fall plates or decor items hidden in your closets that you’ve forgotten? What about your fall flowers? How are you using them? Are you getting their maximum benefit in different settings?
The mums I found at Kroger in mid to late September are getting a real workout! In last week’s What’s Blooming Wednesday #61, you saw them on the porch at the kitchen door.
Most of the time, they’re collecting water and nourishment in the metal-lined plant stand beside the front entrance. Ha! A trio of mums and a trio of pumpkins.
Our weather was (briefly) cool enough for a tablescape on the patio out back, so the trio of mums got a transport to another temporary location – our patio table.
It was a great time to bring out the fun salad plates with gourds and leaves.
I was in a mood for simplicity, so the simple gray table cloth it is!
I thought the pumpkin napkins would also be fun.
I seem to be avoiding Halloween tables this year. It’s not intentional. I’m just not motivated since we have no kids around to enjoy it. I hope you have children or grands around your house so you can set a fun, spooky table!
What I enjoyed most of all about this table (well, in addition to the mums and gourd plates) were the fall scented candles inside the white pumpkins. The scent was heavenly! ID Diva thought so, too, so I sent them home with her. (She has candles burning every time we pop by, so I thought I could easily contribute to the cause!) Hmm…small sacrifices. 😉
The gentle shedding of leaves and flower petals gave reality to the table and color sprinkled here and there.
Your HH and family will enjoy things as you switch settings for your fall flowers, plates, and other decor items.
Isn’t it fun being the queen of your household – the heroine? That’s what we are when we help our family enjoy the memories we’ve made over the years – and add to them.
How often do you make new memories to savor?
